What is the minimum age for artists?
An artist signing up for his/her own mural, must be at least 16 years old to apply and participate. If it is a team mural, the lead artist must be 16 years or older and have assistants that are underage. Exceptions may be made by Light Bringer Project staff on a rare case-by-case basis, such as an underage group that has been trained, under its own watch, who represent one of its own arts educational programs in the community. Through these avenues, all age groups are represented at the chalk festival.

I don't quite understand the canvas donation. Can you explain it further?
Each mural in the festival is required to complete a 1ft. by 1ft. canvas, as a donation to the non-profit organization beneficiary, Light Bringer Project. This painted canvas is exhibited at an auction during the two-day event. Each canvas has an opening bid of $35 and continue with $10 increments up until final bidding on Sunday at 5pm. Those winners with the highest bids may pay at the conclusion of the event and take their canvas home.
Light Bringer Project supplies a lmited number of canvases for free. Canvases will be handed out approximately 3 weeks before the event. If an artist wishes to start sooner, we encourage you to supply or purchase your own canvas (1ft. square, pre-stretched, preferably 1in. thick wood). If artist team members also wish to submit canvases (remember, only one is supplied per mural), those team members may purchase or supply their own canvas. Canvas are turned in at the event pre-party, a few nights before the festival or at check-in on Saturday morning of the festival.
The artist may make the decision to create what they want to paint on the canvas, you are not required to paint the same image you are using for your mural. The only requirement is that the content is suitable for public viewing and will not offend in any way. We suggest you do not use chalk or charcoal on the canvas, as it will likely smear.
